And no, I don't even mean dominator holds. Today I joined a random PUG and scored another jerk on my "selfish fuck - blacklist forever" list. Paul Granite. Self-described tank. Masquerading under a brute AT, of course. Inveterate herder, soooo proud of his granite armor, nevermind that tanking is not really needed on a team with about 4 brutes, 1 stalker and 1 ice dom.
I had no problems with him taking alpha. Or even doing some small-scale, or large-scale herding. (In granite, without a speed booster, go figure. He had TP, but he was abyssally slow.) I had no problems with his brain being like rock and him thinking that's the only way to 'fight' stuff.
I had major issues when the fuckhead stood around watching us kill a MOLE machine (which in hitpoints, probably rivalled the ArchVillain DESK (TM)) and not bothering to attack one iota, and then he ran off to go and herd shit by himself, and basically was playing and soloing by himself while the rest of us were sweating balls trying to do -any- damage to the machine.
And when the mobs were finished, he just came over and watched. As in, stood there, standing, watching a dominator do more damage than him.
And even after we remarked that we could use a little help, he just claimed, oh I am a tank, my attacks are unslotted, I don't do any damage.
WTF is this? As I told him, even if you do ONE damage, it's one less damage we don't have to do. He just lol'ed.
He's a brute, he builds fury, his BI is more than that of a dom's, especially if he just popped the hell out of granite. Fuck, I didn't care if he did less damage than me, it was the standing around watching other people do work that really pissed me off. That's not teamwork.
What the hell is with this 'xp-focused' - one AT, one job - mindset. Oh. I am a tank. I don't do damage. So I won't even try. Piss poor sorry excuse. Like pure healers.
My /fire tank prolly outtanks AND outdamages you. Hell, my stone/stone tank outdamages you. Cos I actually, y'know, ATTACK?
And there were teamwipes by the way. We got attacked by roaming Nemesis while this joker was off strolling around the beach by himself. A buncha people got killed. Some tank. Hophead.
Grrrr. Hate these people. Really do. Narrow-minded, and ultimately SELFISH jerkwads.
Oh, by the way, the most laughable thing he did, after he got bored waiting around for us, he said 'I will just quit the team so Malentis is happy, k?' and he left, cos he'd run out of mobs to herd. He wasn't going to help on the mole machines cos they didn't give any xp.
Stupid fucktard. I really wish I had an in-game blacklist of names to globally block off. My temper's seething like a volcano atm. Though I must say, I think I exhibited extreme control because I remained relatively civil while pointing out the lack of contribution. I didn't even call him any names, I just called him Paul. :)

Isn't granite just a damage penalty? Meaning if you even just spam brawl, your rage will build and eventually just cancel out the penalty.
CoV doesn't really need a tank-tank per se. The classes all contribute, although I think it's more indirect in the sense of masterminds and dominators, and brute+cor for the pure AV-soaking meatbag.
It's nice to take a break from CoX, I find I might enjoy it playing it again.
Meaning that a brute who runs around pretending he is a tank is going like a defender running around saying "I'm just a healer" and stands around auto-spamming healing aura. :)
Yea, well, almost. It's like your healer spamming heal aura on a team focused on taking down a high hp object. (Gee, that's sure a lot of damage we're taking from an OBJECT.)
And refusing to use his first tier must-have attack "because it's unslotted" to help out.
Oh, and to make matters worse, this guy didn't just have one attack. I checked his powersets, he had about 4-5 of them. Haymaker, jab, punch, yadda yadda.
Anyhow I later bumped into him at the enhancement guy and thought to check his SG. Gorath's Most Wanted. SWG refugee. No wonder. Just a jerkoff. :)
