This is like how the Circle of Thorns makeover-2 was received so well once it was framed by the hideousness makeover-1, whereas people would probably hate it if it was framed by original-CoT.
It's kind of amusing to see some people complain about how there is no lifetime subscription to CoH, because Positron said "there is no lifetime subscription". Someone then asked, what would a Premium player at tier 9 not get? He said "no incarnate powers and content". So at my current level of vet points and investment into the game, I do have a lifetime subscription. I hardly do Incarnate content anyway, so I have everything else I need. If I want access to the new zones or Incarnate content, I can plunk down some cash for it, which I don't think will be as much as subscription costs.
It's just a question of whether you want to call it "no lifetime subscription but we have vague, mysterious premium levels" (SCREAM) or "we have a lifetime subscription, it's called premium and it's gated" (REJOICE).
But Positron isn't known for his media savy.
Framing, CoH-style but with implications on RL interactions. Remember the newbie guy that I can't get to through to? This time, I've succeeded, in the space of two days. The key: framing. (In a way I wonder if this post sounds stereotyped, like how women care about people and feelings yadda yadda...but it's just one person.)
Frame one (teaming principles): You should not aggro extra spawns and then run back to the team. It's not a team-friendly action.
Response: *blank* *ignore*
vs
Frame two (other people's feelings): The squishy teammates are really pissed at you.
Response: Omg! Why?
Frame two: They stand at the back of the team because they can avoid damage. Next thing you know you're running into them, and 10-20 mobs are charging into them, and AoEs are flying everywhere, and they're dying.
Response: Oh no! I solo too much, I must not do that in the future.
Frame one (self-competency): You need to pick X power to survive, Y power not to get mezzed.
Response: *don't care* *ignore*
vs
Frame two (Failing other people): Looks like you're not surviving very well. The team keeps wiping when you die.
Response: How can I get better? I keep getting stunned!
Frame two: Picking X power stops you from getting stunned, two slots makes it perma, ...
Response: Great, I'll have that done next level.
Frame one (teaming theory): Turn the mobs away from the team so they don't get hit.
Response: *ignore*
vs
Frame two (killing other people): Lol, you've killed all our blasters. They must be pissed.
Response: Oh no? Why? What happened?
Frame two: The mobs have cone attacks. You're standing where all the cone attacks hit the blasters, so suddenly they're all dead.
Response: Arrrgh I shouldn't do that. I can't believe I forgot that, I used to tank too in WoW!

I want to say something regarding WoW tourists, but I am too busy rofl'ing to figure out how to frame it. :)
