More more things change, the more things don't change. Apparently, the Circle of Thorns are getting a redesign. The first time Positron posted about it, people screamed. CoT had turned from a bunch of mage in robes to Tsoo-inkmen-lookalike goons in spandex!
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." (Fix what is broken.)
So the art team went back and did some ...stuff. Spikey stuff. Loincloth stuff. See, they said, we give you what you want. Presenting the new Circle of Thorns! --

I seriously fail at seeing the point of the costume redesign.
Reminds me of 'changing' the newbie experience of SMAUG from something elegant and experiential, to something that involves long boring 'read sign' manuals.
Revision is meant to IMPROVE the final product, not change for the sake of it.
Now the CoT look exactly alike, just in different rainbow flavors of the same spiked armor.
Some guy using the Mission Architect designer could do better. And probably did.
Browsing over to the boards, I am mildy amused. I bet they had the spikey re-design in the bag and decided to sneak the corny Tsoo picture into ComicCon so as to spark the exact reaction of revulsion changed to approval.
Having seen spikey version 2 first, and comparing it with my mental image of CoT, they are still pretty jarring in my perception.
Version 1 was just 'lol.'
