Official Update Day

I hereby declare today Official Update Day!

City of Heroes, Rift, and now LOTRO.

I might just get Aion over and done with also.

Certainly I'm not getting any gaming done besides a lame attempt at Rise of Immortals.

Which is a sucky MOBA by the way. I do not recommend it. I rather reinstall DOTA again. The main issue seems to be a certain sluggishness of response, which is rather crippling if you're trying to react with milisecond precision to fire off a skill in order not to get slaughtered. I got pwned in the PvE maps, so I don't even dare try the PvP ones. Also poor quality graphics do not help it any. DOTA 2 is coming, that will be a far superior product to enjoy.

I hear Guild Wars released Winds of Change part 2. As I have barely gotten a toehold into War of Kryta lately, I'm a bit scared to attempt to update that one. Besides, Guild Wars updates in an eyeblink.

I seem to be doubly homeless and aimless game-wise lately.

I dunno, on the one hand, Spiral Knights and Rusty Hearts are decent casual past times. But since they are free to play, they are also free to put down to take a break from. So it's not the end of the world if I stop playing them for a week, or two, or four, or two months or more.

I have the vague temptation to get back into LOTRO. I'm just not sure where I am any more in that game with my characters every which way, with a sluggish fighting Guardian in Moria someplace bogged down with FedEx quests. I'd like to play something... fightier. But that would involve a lot of godawful leveling of places I've seen, and LOTRO quests are not the most...ahem, story-based in the world.

I'm vaguely tempted to check out Aion. But not until they offer a free weekend. Too lazy to re-sign up for a one month sub only to cancel. Ironically, if they had like a Steam wallet or Paypal thing for "one month," I would probably do so. But the mental block of 1 month sub, and cancel after, is a bit much.

Rift is on the agenda. I just KNOW they've reworked the skills and reset all the talent trees again though. It's nice they give you a free reset, but it's so irritating to have to re-choose everything from scratch. (Which usually means some googling effort looking for the current recommended build, because one is too lazy to experiment when one just wants an optimized build ready to play with.)

So is City of Heroes. Assuming the login server recognizes me at some point. I honestly don't know why I'm bothering. Probably just to select all the tiers of Paragon Rewards. I think I've been around long enough to unlock things to a decent level of tieredness. But the character slot thing depresses me, and the prospect of running around in a community I don't like any longer depresses me further, and the whole metagamey count-the-tokens-to-buycraftsell-various-enhancements makes me think I'd be better off playing an MMO where the gear at least looks pretty when I buy them with tokens. And the combat is very routine.

I'm waiting for A Tale in the Desert Telling 6 to start. But I bet it's not going to start for another few months yet. At which time, maybe Guild Wars 2 will launch a beta. Dota 2 will probably have a beta too.

And while looking for stuff to delete off Steam so as to make room for other games, I noticed I still have Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and some other games that could be finished, so that I can indeed delete them to make room for other games.

*paddles aimlessly looking for something/somewhere to focus on*
