Wow. You can't ever make people happy. Swap a 3rd tanker attack at lvl 10 with taunt at lvl 4, and some people bitch about it. Add a new temp power based on origins, and some people bitch about that too - and say that they're not looking at the right things to fix.
*boggle* Heck, they are fixing something, so deal.
And it's not a nerf either, so it's even easier to deal with the concept.
I like it. It makes the lower levels more interesting by giving you another attack option. Too often it's a lot of spamming of two powers over and over. And with the tanker-specific chain, I'm having renewed interest in my lowbie tanks - Red Adamantine, fire/ss, has two ss attacks and was always forced to attempt blazing aura things to death. Gruthak, inv/em, was entirely miserable trying to deal with the first tier attack power - my defence-first experiment sucked. And I'd like to see how Projekt Thrym, ice/mace, does with an additional third attack at lvl 4.
Add an origin specific temp power to that...Whoo. That'll be fun.
And that brings aggro hold back to the realm of punchvoke, which is as it should be. Long long ago, before many so-called tankers lost their nerve after the nerf/brute invasion, what a lot of them were saying was that they wanted to punch someone and gain attention, rather than having to shout insults at people.
You have it now. Be careful what you wish for, and all that.
Fact is, a lot of them DIDN'T want to tank, period. They just wanted to be the big guy that SMASHES. And that's what Brutes are for. Deal high damage. So yea, please go and be the offensive-minded brute.
A tanker is a defensive-minded hero. He's a slow and steady attacker, and he guards his team by wading into the fight and being the center of attention. That's the idea, anyhow. And I welcome having more punchy tools - that can help me solo, and also help me team, and gain aggro in a thematic sense while dealing damage.
These days, I have long dismissed taunt as something necessary. Especially when it only hits 5. On a stoner, I still think it'll be good to have, cos of the poor mobility issue. The other tanks, nah, they can do without perfectly well.
