Rant: Update Speed

I don't get it. I just don't get it. CoX is freaking lucky that I like the game. The pre-download downloads at blinding speeds of 1.5 kb/s (if I'm fortunate) and then tends to stop forever after 1-2 MB have been downloaded. It's like I've been shunted off the queue in favor of computers nearer to the server that download at faster speeds and thus seem more "alive" to the test server.

Even now, with I7 on test and the so-called "proper" updater running, speeds are at 2.3 kb/s. This SUCKS.

I can download at 20-30 kb/s and faster (usually 100kb/s) in games like Guild Wars AND Dungeons and Dragons Online. What gives?

Those CoX network people / programmers for the updater need a severe telling off. :( I was offline for a week or more downloading I5 and CoV painstakingly (because they oh-so-happily lumped CoV into CoH and made it necessary to download it to play CoH). I'm going to have to spend several days clicking on and restarting and babysitting the updater just to get I7.

You know, I've only met ONE other game that updates at these amazingly slow speeds for me. Downloading the World of Warcraft 2 gig preview. And that was on bittorrent.

Not a good contender to be following, CoX. Shape up with the freaking download speed already.

Reports have it that a Dooomslayer, fire/axe scranker, is hunting badges in RV. If you see him, make sure to toggledrop his acrobatics while he's standing on an ice slick. :P

I hear toggle-dropping is poorer now, alas. However, I can't wait to test out spamming enough ranged attacks to build domination and then overwhelming the magnitude of the mez resist toggles...

At the rate I'm downloading though, the guy will have earned enough xp from the badges to level himself to 51 before I get to Test...
