Life's Little Disappointments

Heh. I knew it couldn't last. I had been getting a huge chain of really good teams and having some incredible luck soloing and so on - all through double xp weekend. I'm almost pushing 47, which is good.

Unfortunately, I made the critical error of allowing some random guys on my Efficiency Expert badge missions - and we ran out of time while putzing around with big groups of Relentless Malta - which is not fun.

So yea, I'm disappointed. Now I won't be able to get this badge with Malentis, which I wanted as my badge whore for CoV side. Ah well. Looks like I'll just have to make another dedicated badge whore, prolly an invis brute if possible, and just go solo shit. Of course, I wouldn't have any special accomplishment badges on him either but bleh. :P

*stretches* I know I titled this Life's Little Disappointments (plural) because I had the feeling that I had something else to describe that was disappointing. For the life of me, I can't remember wtf it is anymore. :P

Oh yea, now I remember. My Shop@PBS orders got canceled, twice. Because the idiotic shop wouldn't accept an out-of-state credit card. And even calling up the place didn't work. So my grand plans to return home loaded with kewl science videos got shot in the foot repeatedly.

The good thing about me is that I tend to brush these off quite fast and make new alternative plans. Like for the PBS example, I realized that Amazon had a boatload of the documentaries I wanted, so I'm just gonna go back HOME and order the documentaries, instead of waiting on tenterhooks for parcels to arrive.

And I've had lots of good stuff happen to me. I managed to get my claws into all the filk CDs I wanted. I plan on treating myself to a niiiice Sunday Brunch at a very classy restaurant next to the hotel I'm staying at. Malentis is *gasp* sooo close to 47 that I can feel it. Once I hit him there, I think I will take a break and go play some other AT. Possibly a brute, so I can vent some frustration. Hell, I may as well brute first, then run him again. :)

Can't get into it. :P

I suspect I am heading straight for a soloing / single-player period.

Even the best teams are starting to make me restless, and let's not even speak of how the moronic ones get on my nerves.

Great news is that Malentis has hit 47. I've left him unleveled, so when I get around to installing Test on the laptop, I can try out a) the pet, b) flash freeze, c) glacier, d) bile spray and e) any other weird powers. I will probably go with glacier, but it'll be nice to play around with it.

I did some stone bruting for a bit, and it was kinda relaxing to be somewhat selfish on teams, kinda like, ok, I run in, take alpha, pound a fault into the ground, and if the aggro goes away, welp, too bad. I find myself very focused on self as a brute.

It's interesting. Then I played with the necro/poison mm. I almost forgot how to freaking use one, and my power bar is still not macro'ed for optimum efficiency yet, but it was pretty fun. Especially when I went to BB to get a Shivan.

Bodyguard mode is -great-. Everyone who tried to pick on me found out that I was pretty unkillable - yay, so tanky - while my /poison and 5 zombies did a nasty number to their hp. Alas, my zombies' pursuit capacity is nonexistent at 25, so they all managed to jump and superspeed and fly away.

(Sheesh, now I remember that I had TP foe. I should have put it in a better spot so I could use it. See, bad power tray arrangement. :P)

And the greatest thing was, even in a bad situation, shot at by turrets, fighting off a Shivan boss, AND getting attacked by a hero - I could just take one look and decide to cut and run. With TP. While in defensive mode. (God I love TP for pvp). All pets died, but I was safe to resummon them again.

I saw a lot of other MMs got pwned though. I don't think they knew about bodyguard.

Amusingly, on a team, or even playing solo, I rarely see ANY combat actually occuring. Why? Cos my attention is sooo fixed on keeping the zombies alive that my gaze is riveted to the upper left where my pet window is. :P

Kinda scary in a way. I still like dom'ing though, bruting or mm'ing is just not as in-your-face balls-to-the-wall exciting.

If only I could hold a conversation with pets...

I'm starting to get this need for immersion and RP, and neither CoX nor Oblivion can feed that. Nor, I suspect, any computer game, not even Planescape: Torment...

Which suggests I better start writing aka solo roleplaying...
