Back In The Saddle Again

Had a good time this Friday. I wanted to see how scrappers play now, so I got off my lazy butt and made myself another space marine dude, Space Wolf-style with grey-blue armor and yellow shoulder pads, without a helmet so we could see his orange-red top-knot and 12 'o clock shadow. When I get my second costume, I'll get my helmet on ala Invictus. Should be fun.

Heh, I think I made him eveeer slightly too big for his claws. His claws look somewhat miniscule, but still ok. Imo, anyhow.

Putzing around on him was kinda fun, but soon the lure of the big tankity tank was too great to resist.

Back on Invictus, I switched to unyielding and tried out my missions. I think it's just right. It's back to the huge levels which can get slightly tiring to wander through, but are ever so rewarding in terms of xp from mobs. Fighting off oranges mostly, with a couple of yellows.

At some points it is risky and sometimes touch and go, like when I got myself surrounded with like 10-12 DE and a fricking Guardian which dropped the accuracy-upping Quartz emanator. OUCH. Ouch ouch ouchity. I used up like 2-3 lucks and the 4-5 respites of various sizes I had, and I was still dropping in hp, so I panicked and hit unstoppable.

Wow. Suddenly hits dried up to like 4 hp, 10 hp, yadda yadda. Phew. Combust combust fire sword circle, voila, dead DE in a minute. Leaving me with a minute to play around, wandering the map away from other DE until unstoppable crashed.

But it is kinda interesting and brings risk back into the solo tank equation. I finished two missions like that, and I got about 7/8 a bar of xp from it. Which is really good. Pre-I4, I wouldn't be able to make my bar move like that unless I did 5-6 missions. Or herded DE like crazy. It's promising for my ability to eventually hit 50.

Though with the number of AV missions and the apparent necessity of having defenders for surviving those, I may end up street sweeping my way to level 50. Hello Rikti Crash Site?

Wonder why they put those missions in the level 40+ game anyhow. I doubt the squishies like missions like that. I doubt tanks like missions like that now they can be killed in a buncha hits. So no one likes the missions (now as well as then) and having to put together da perfect team in order to clear them. Which means...? One should get rid of those missions or allow it as a choice, rather than as a forced mission thing.

Anyhow, that's a ways yet. Right now, I'm more wondering whether I should keep things on Rugged, Tenacious or Unyielding.

Rugged is easier than UY, and smaller, which means I'll complete faster, but I won't get to 'herd'/gather as much, and will be like single-target killing, what a waste on my tank. But I won't have to wander through huge empty boring halls. But I would have to fly through huge empty boring zones to get my next mission. :/

Tenacious allows me to group/herd a bunch, but unfortunately once they are herded and combusted to death, it's like, oops, mission over. Thank you for your time. And you run through a lot of empty halls.

Unyielding makes things tricky, there are a lot more to kill, xp is very nice, but the herding is impeded due to reasons of surviability. Empty boring huge halls again, just the fights are more fun.

Ah well. Let's stick to UY for now.
