Now here’s an interesting article for thought: http://www.taoism.net/articles/dreaming/catchwind.htm
Not written very well either, but the moral is very relevant to me. Because that’s what I’m doing when I play these pick up groups, right? I’m trying relentlessly to find some kind of flow experience where everything meshes and we have a really good time for about 5 hours or more.
Nevermind, I can’t catch the wind. It doesn’t blow all the time. Sometimes it comes, and I need to enjoy those times.
Sometimes I will make the attempt, just in case I am rewarded for it.
If the attempt fails, I will not be bothered, or feel in my perfectionist way that I could have done something. I will shrug it off like water off a duck’s back, or water flowing on its way, and go on my own way as well.
The crucial thing is not to attempt so hard that you forget everything else, and end up frustrated because of it.
It’s like a CCG habit, or a gambling/casino thing. If you do it for entertainment, say every week or so, you decide to pop $5 in and play around with whatever you enjoy. Great. Sometimes you get really neat rare cards, or a jackpot. But don’t count on it.
If you get so obsessed with wanting the jackpot every time, before you know it, you’re feeding more than $5 into the machine, you’re feeding yourself and stuff you can’t afford in. And then that becomes bad. Unhealthy. The works.
