Concept Stalker

Quick little monologue about two different kinds of concept stalkers:

One of them is a figurative one. A bulldog who can't let go of an idea. Who lets it hammer him over and over, getting more upset about it. I bumped into one of these on the Control global channel. Ended up coming out of lurkerhood to join in the discussion for a while, before deciding that nothing would ever get resolved. Face it, you can't convince people who don't want to be convinced, so why waste your breath? I feel vaguely sorry for Gail Sieht cos she's trying and trying to make people see her point - I guess we all do, but she doesn't quite see that other people have a different perspective and do not want to walk in her footsteps.

Me, I can see that, so I'm often like a mediatory strange voice that throws a spanner in the works, disrupts a good fight going on, and starts a new one on another subject. :)

I also feel sorry for UnicyclePeon, who is the concept stalker of this discussion. Why? Because I hear a certain kind of echo in his complaints. He may not realize it, but he's dangerously at burnout point. He soloes 95%. His friends have all left because of I5 and ED, and he only has his Control and forums people remaining. He's sooo bitter about his controllers and how they've become tedious that he's started deleting them and so on.

When the game becomes a chore and if you can't find a chord in it that you like, then it's time to go.

"I'm bored shitless running mobs. It's the same old, same old. Do damage, circlecircle grasp grasp, quaff quaff quaff to survive damage. Repeat ad nauseam. Leveling and xp got nerfed so bad. Can't PL (herd) anymore, and can't level (play) the way the imms (devs) want me to. Leveling that way is sooo boring and so tedious. And for what? Mobs that require more and more avatars and more and more time."

Sounds familiar.

I'm still not this way yet on CoH because I'm still having the time of my life trying out new ATs and new playstyles. I feel way more adaptable here. Maybe because the ATs/classes are actually significantly different in the way they play - rather than just punch a skill and quaff heals.

Which brings me to MY concept stalker. Lol. Maybe I like the stalker playstyle after all. I ran through the lowbie levels fast with my SG, and in no time, managed to hit level 6 and pick up my assassin strike. ROFL. I LOVE IT. It's just how I imagined Geandakin circling.

It helps that I made the stalker a concept build with ninja blade (LIFEBANE!)/regen (QUAFFQUAFFHEALS) and a demon head in a businessman's suit. I am just super tickled.

Oh, in the future, maybe I shall get a costume with a pair of cool shades. That'll be my goroggles. Rofl. :)

Ah memories. That's the best thing to hold on to. Not the actual bytes itself.

I'm not sure just how functional a teleporting stalker is going to be, in pvp, I might just get owned. But nevermind, Geand is for concept and if he will end up pve-only, so be it. CoH is an altholic's dream - I can't really understand the concept of deleting chars. :)

Sure, I've deleted a few lowbies (like level 6 or under) on crucial servers that I think I want to make room for other chars - but I've always left the option open to make that same powerset on another server. Can't imagine destroying anything over 20 levels...

Every dog has his day. Even if he's nerfed beyond imagining, leave him and wait until they nerf the other three powersets and whoa, he's the most powerful again - granted at a lower overall cap. :P

I guess the amount of complaints coming from one person just measures how much they can adapt to a changing situation. And I may not like it, but I can always adapt...if I'm still having fun.

Someday I'll have to plan an ED respec for some other characters. I'm confident they are still able to solo, weakened or not. Heck, I might just pull out Vesuvius post ED and run him with my 6 slotted damage just like that. I bet I can still take down mobs perfectly fine. Just need to know JUST how much you can withstand for each fight.
