I logged on Raggy to mess around with a defeat CoT mission, and a level 22 blaster came up to look at me. He (gasp) actually sent me a tell asking if he could hunt with me. Now, 4 levels difference makes me a bit uncomfortable still, about the pleveling aspect, so I just made a polite excuse, saying that I was just doing a quick defeat mission and had to leave/log off after that.
So I did, though I was like, wow, the guy actually sent me a tell, not a blind invite. And it was in legible English too.
Since I wasn't feeling overly sociable nor looking for large teams, I decided to log Ravenhill on instead and take him for a spin. Churn through a couple of Tsoo missions (you know, States might be right, I can take about 3 minions/lts and it's just the right pace, imo, in separate groups. Solo on Tenacious is very pleasant. It's when you add the teammate numbers, and up mob numbers, then things become trickier. You expect to defeat more, and you're looking for the big team, big boom aspect of it.) and enjoy looking at my well filled contact tree.
Then I heard a broadcast about a ghost ship sighting in Talos. You know, I don't even know or have even seen the durn ship before, except that one brief glimpse while fighting Lusca. So I decide to go looking for it and swim all around Talos Island. I don't see any sight of the ship, but I do see two groups of nice green ghostly spirits gathered on a wooden jetty and beach.
Con 'em, durn reds and oranges, level 26...Hmm, I'm level 23. Heck, I'm SO'ed, let me try! (Says the scrapper with pretty much only 3 slot unyielding.) I get my leatherclad armoured ass handed back to me in 5 seconds. Crud. I think I got one though. Not sure.
But but, I want to kill some spectral passengers. Give 'em their well deserved rest, that kinda thing. Level 26...Hmm...Raggy is level 26! He's a tank! Surely I can take 'em!
Put Ravenhill back in his cozy cot and let him take a nap, up comes Raggy, who bounces over, hoping no level 50 has come over and zapped them all.
Nope. Still good.
Turn armors on, hop right in the center, root, and go OW OW OW OW CRAP OW EARTH EMBRACE HOLY SHIT OW DAMN I BET THIS IS ENERGY (INHALE RESPITE, INHALE LUCKS) *whine* I WANT CRYSTAL ARMOR OW OW ow ow nope I'm gonna die if I stay here, run run run hop hop hop away.
Oh, and I did get a few mallet whacks in and half damage a bunch of the blue-con spirits.
So I run away to the cliff and watch them chase after me with their insane long distance green zombie "spit"-like/drain stuff. But yea, the further I get away from them, the more they lose interest and they start becoming tankable.
I'm encouraged and I start playing 'train and string the green spectres' out and trying to hit 'em one on one. Their phase shift is annoying, but one on one (and even fighting one with 5 hitting me, it's ok, just not 10-15). I'm having fun feeling how far I can go with this.
Then I pull a yellow Lost Soul. Boss, I think. The Lts were white, minions blue.
It's just him, but he hovered up and chased me all the way to my cliff refuge. :( Root and take whacks at it, sucking respites, feeling almost scrapperish - it's you or me, ghostie!
Then no doubt attracted by the distinctive sound of the spirit attacks, a 'troller by the name of Star Control pops up nearby and watches. I spare her a glance, wondering if she's the ks'er type or the random healer type, lvl 23, in some SG.
Gal watches my hp plunge and finally can't take it any more, no doubt, jumps in and throws a couple deceives on the boss. With the guy more than a little distracted, I take him out.
The fact of uninvited, unasked aid and the fact that the lady most likely saved my dwarf's life clash for a while, before the latter wins out, and I offer a team invite.
We get to talking a bit as we hop on down to take out the remnant of the first group and the other group, and wow, proper English, coherent sentences and so on. Someone who actually knows their way around. Who doesn't mind going 3 times to the hospital to try and take out the spirits because the bosses are a bit much for them. Because debt is ok, it's worked off easy and you need it if you want to do all the TFs at this level anyhow. I agree, adding it's a shame I can't find anyone for Sister Psyche, and tell her about the level 20 fire tank who wanted to do it un'sked, and she says "that's insane. even at level 24 it's tricky with mob spawns the way they are in a six man team."
Oh wow. I feel vindicated. There's at least one more person in the world besides Kelizendis who can see my POV. It's not just crazyiwantmorexpiamtehinvincible fellows out there.
We end up going to Talos and decimating one more spawn of spirit passengers there, before I feel the strain of teaming (overteamed, alas, I need more solo time) and beg out with a RL excuse.
Not a bad night. My badge bar for the ghost passengers is 3/4 of the way there already.
And yea, I met someone who gave me a little more hope for the overall intelligence of the world.

Not everyone is one of those, but those that are not are in the minority.
You do need a LOT of debt to see everything at these levels. Perma-debt. I suicided over 10 times on Contrition during that time and I still missed Sister Synapse TF and some of the Striga contacts. Start suiciding early, because by the time you are 25 and don't want to get to 26, it's a bit too late.
I still want to do the Sister Synapse TF. We could try again some time.
