It seems strange but my appetite has turned to groups of the late. And sometimes you do meet some strange people.
First person... not so strange, but perhaps instructive. I was going to a Carnie mission in Steel when I heard someone go 20 controller lft. By the time I reached my mission door, he muttered something about having stood there for one hour lft. That has to be horrible, so I invited him, and went off to do the mission.
It was pretty entertaining. Now my tenacious mission was spawning for two people and wasn't that easy anymore. At one point, we aggroed two illusionists and this was usually a "oh noes" thing for me, but he flashfired and then held them. It took me a while to realise too, with the sucky fire graphics.
Very enjoyable and challenging, not just the slow plod (except for the bosses where I go eep). At the end of the mission, he went off to bed, but told me that he was actually the alt of a tank. Log a tank, get inundated by requests for groups. Log a controller, stand around begging. Interesting perspective on the situation...I guess if I want to team I should log a tank:)
Then I remember the few blasters I teamed with of the late, especially that blankish team-mate Juli and I grouped with. I decided to play blaster.
Wow, I have forgotten what I've missed. I got picked up immediately with a blind invite on Hailfall. And the person on the blind invite simply just started a TF! Interesting... the tank quit immediately. We had a scraster, a blank, and two controllers who were actually decent. We made it through some missions, then one controller quit after he died. And amazingly, we actually completed all the missions on this wacky team of misfits. The scraster, a /DA scrapper who won't put on his armor, counted as a blaster with more hitpoints. Sometimes he did put it on, but since he didn't put on the one that gave him mez protection, the freaks would just stun it out of him with a handclap... The /ice blank would rush into battle and summon his teeny weeny little ice patch below the freak tank. The /emp controller healed like crazy or telerezed (and had little endurance to to anything else).
I really must say though, my one slotted fire sword does ... comparable damage to my slotted blasts. That is insane. I could resist build up + aim - frost breath blast blast blap. Blapblapblap! I can understand how our blank friend went the blank way...
To just shut Juli up, I only died twice. First with I was stealth rescuing hostages and the hasten crash dropped my stealth after a stealth kill. Second to clamor. Sometimes you just have to be a heartless, selfish little bastard when you're that squishy an aggro magnet. I did so much damage everything trained on me when I started hitting them, not kidding here.
Still, we couldn't take down Clamor in the end. We did manage to get her down to halfway when the ill controller summoned in her army to take aggro first. But either it wasn't really slotted or game mechanics just work that way, aggro came back to us when we started shooting and we died pretty quickly.
But the ice blaster really is a king of single target damage.... as long as aggro is kept off it. The second part of a meta-tankmage, the first part being a serious tank. Everything dies in the first 5 seconds after I aim and build up. If it doesn't I run for my life and. Bad solo DPS. Everything I shoot at, without a tank, starts making for me.
So now I have a kill clamor on Hailfall. I'm blasterlocked. If I have to streethunt my way to 30 and solo her, I will do it!

Shut me up? :) How so?
I thought I was the one who thought you were ignoring your fire secondary. :P
You said you were gonna die blapping. :P
Sure, a lot of it looks stolen from the fire tanks and seems like suicide to a squishy blaster - hence why everyone thinks it sucks donkey balls.
But if you check way back when, I sat down, thought about it, and said that ice pri had a pretty good combo to your fire sec. You can control, and then blap to your heart's content on insane damage.
The only problem the ice/fire blapper has is on a) unholdable mobs or b) large groups he can't control well enough.
In which case, a controller or a tank would be optimal teamup. The masters of crowd control.
Most blasters like that teamup anyhow. I know my AoE king fire blaster does. /Dev gives him more solo survivability options, with trap preparation and all. But I still can't unleash hell alone on a clump unless I wanna die in between a fire breath and a fire ball.
Oh, and if you want an inspiration feeder on your Clamor, catch me when I'm online. Maybe if you stacked up on a buncha Lucks and Enrages...
I'll be back today at oh...your 3-4am? Heh. :P
