I'd hum "Forgiving #5" to the tune of Love Potion Number Nine if I could think up any more lyrics. But I can't. It's all lost in the excitement that is Cross Breeding being opened.
Flax seed improvements are coming in almost hourly (it's only been a day or less). The veterans are doing some amazing magic on these seeds.
My first and only new seed that I've gotten disseminated into my grubby hands is a strain known as Forgiving #5. It's the name of the person who did the seed cross, and is the fifth seed they fiddled with, but it is oddly apt.
No water needed. Just one weeding.
And it yields 2 normal flax and 1 rotten flax.
When you grow it for seed, it gives you two seeds back.
To my completely newbie eyes, this is uber cool. It's pretty much a 200% improvement in labor-savings and a 50% yield improvement.
They say, more seeds, probably better seeds, will likely come soon and be disseminated across Egypt as a public service. It is quite spectacular to see this viral effect in action.
Forgiving, the original crossbreeder, lives in a little 'ulu' region known as the Cat's Cradle or something. (CCR) In a short while, people have run to her, picked up the seed, made more of it, run back to their home region and have started to distribute it. And she's not the only crossbreeder. A number of people are at it.
They are also constructing public warehouses and public chests where all these crossbreeding efforts can be stored and shared, near the chariot stops.
The speed of this spread is like lightning.
Meanwhile, I've gotten as far as making two of the Nut's Essences used for crossbreeding, thanks to the hardcore guild's swift efforts in constructing a Toxin Kitchen and laying in stores of a mushroom I have never even heard of, let alone seen.
Sheepishly, I don't even have the Cross Breeding tech yet. I suppose I should go down to Saqqarah and make the run to uThought. I have very little excuse. In other news, cooking potencies have risen across Egypt and recipes that originally gave 14 dex, started to give 20 dex, and then soared to around 32 dex. Add that on to my 6 permanent dex points from a Test, and I'm flying across the grass.
S'crazy.
